Poly-Kroma

This project from 2016 is the oldest in my portfolio, but I can’t imagine getting rid of it. In many ways this was some of the most enjoyable and fun work I’ve done on a creative project. The way I tackled this project with a combination of tactile and digital methods opened my mind to new ways of thinking. The conceptual approach blew all project expectations out of the water and we ended up with something eye-catching, bold, meaningful, and remarkably fun. I poured myself into this project and I hope that comes through. And I hope I get to do more work like this. —Tyler
Poly-Kroma is an annual four-show gallery exhibition featuring the work of graphic designers, artists, and art historians at Cal Poly Pomona University. I wanted the design to capture the various mediums of the designers and artists of the exhibition and to feel exceedingly fun, as Poly-Kroma is ultimately a celebration of the participant's work and achievements.
The poster was created by physically crafting the individual letters of "Poly-Kroma" to highlight the various mediums showcased at the event. They were printed double-sided as foldable mailers for the event. The poster set the tone and was then translated to all the different mediums of the show: invitations, website, and the actual gallery space. And yes, I did personally make those giant pencils and confetti on the walls!
We fell in love with this initial sketch of mine and it set the direction for the whole project. We loved how the various mediums of art and design were represented by each letter.
